Quick update…

I was planning on visiting a gallery, however, this head-cold got in the way of any pleasantries today. Miserable and mad at myself for losing my cell phone. I did manage to set up a still life today, painting will resume tomorrow as I want to paint to daylight. I’ve sketched in my still life and am ready to paint first thing tomorrow. I’m going to take progressive pics of this painting… excited to begin. I’m going to be starting off with an under-painting done in Transparent red oxide and Ultramarine blue.

Now I need cold meds, hot rooibos tea hippie style~ while I work on ideas for upcoming paintings…

Head cold :(

I woke up yesterday with a head-cold, and today feel somewhat crappy, I’m going to take some cold meds and when I feel up to it, I’m going on a field trip today, visit a few galleries and take some pics. Photography is one of my favorite things to do.  Now for those meds, a fresh cup of coffee hippie style 😉

Coffee and todays plan…

For some reason, I awoke way to early this morning, not getting much sleep.  Eager, I guess to start the new day. I plan on tidying up my studio today and completing a landscape that’s been sitting incomplete for way too long. I have several ideas for subject matter for upcoming paintings. A friend of mine has worked on many vintage muscle cars, so heading out early next week to take a few pics of some of them.  I kinda have the image in my head and so want to work on a few ideas on paper  for composition and backdrops. I’m so looking forward to beginning my quest…

Todays ideas, tomorrows paintings…

I’ve come to a fork in the road today. A road block per se.

Dilemma– I’m wanting to produce exciting paintings. Perhaps passionate, intriguing, dramatic, serene. I’m looking for that certain  ‘je ne sais quoi’ – but can’t decide which genre to pursue. So this is my plan. To complete a painting of several genre. Figure, Nude, Still life, Vintage car, Landscape, City scape and Marine. Once they are all complete I want to gather together some creative individuals to help me choose which genre I should pursue.  I’m currently on the hunt for a vintage car to begin my quest.

Brainstorming…..

Ok, so I had an epiphany this morning while in the shower. This is where most of my ideas originate.  I know what to do now. I’m on a mission. No more boring compositions. Yawn :- 0

Hmmmmm….. where’s my coffee….

Progress…

I painted in the orange and re-arranged the twigs, still needs some fine tuning….

Plan for the day….

My still life painting is bothering me, must  work on that right away. Once done I’ll glaze the mandolin and get started on a new piece. Now, where’s my coffee cup….

Evening thoughts…

Another day has come to an end, spent the day working on my still life and worked on ‘three friends fishing’

The still life has a few hours worth of work to go. Have a few issues to resolve, may have to include another grape to the left and slightly in front of the chalice. I’m definitely going to buy some flowers and include them in my next still life. Been thinking about the Sidney fine art show and painting I plan on entering. I definitely plan on a figure, a still life, a landscape and one more, not sure yet. Plan on doing the moss street paint-in this year. Also the Sidney paint-in. Definitely going to be actively involved in participating in as many events as possible this year …..now to wash my brushes and head off to neva land 😉

Chalice and grapes on my easel…

Spent my day working on this little still life, have some tweaking to do still. I’m pleased with the outcome thus far.

Morning contemplation…

Coffee in hand, in front of my easel, contemplating my days work. I’m taking a new picture of three friends fishing, prefer taking pics with natural daylight for lighting.  Definitely working on the chalice and grapes and getting that off my easel. The mandolin’s next.

Then set up my new still life…. now to clean my brushes and get ready for painting. And…my eldest daughter gave me a new apron, now no more paint on my clothes  🙂
